Washington D.C. Trip

Hello everyone! I have been trying for 3 days now to find time to catch up on my blog and post pictures from my D.C. trip. I flew out to D.C. on 30 April and flew back to Denver on 5 May. It was a business trip, so I had class all day and the evenings were open for sight seeing. A lot of tourist attractions close at 5:30pm, so we (my boss and I) were not able to do everything we wanted to, but we sure did a lot in the short time we were there. Here are a few pictures:
Arlington National Cemetary

I was very impressed with D.C. The city was clean and very pretty. There was a lot of green and it was absolutely beautiful weather! We didn’t have a rental car, so we got around using metro- it was pretty slick! FDR Memorial

Anyway, some of the touristy things we did included the Holocaust Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, walked the Mall, and took a grand tour to visit a lot of the monuments and memorials. The Holocaust Museum was very well done, but very depressing. Mt. Vernon closed at 6:00pm, but we were able to go to the gift shop for 15 minutes and eat at the restaurant there. I had roast duck- it tasted like turkey! I’m sad we didn’t have a chance to tour Mt. Vernon- perhaps next time! We did a lot of walking throughout the week, but it felt good to be outside and enjoy the nice weather. The last night there we took a guided tour and we were able to see 7 major touristy attractions such as the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Wall, Jefferson Monument, and the new WWII memorial. They pack a lot in to that three-hour tour!

Saturday coming home was a long day. I was at the airport a long time since the flight was delayed. I finally got home at 9:00pm (was planning on getting in around 5:30pm) and was so happy to be home.

Okay, so, the soccer team I helped coach is done. The last game was held while I was TDY. I was very sad that I missed their last game. I got a card from one of the girls on the team and it totally made my day. The parents also chipped in and bought me a gift card to chick-fil-a, which I thought was very thoughtful. It is always those small things that brighten my day. I hope I have a chance to coach again… I’m going to miss those kids- they’re so darn cute!

Well, that is about all for me right now. Have a great week!

It looks like you had a fun trip to DC. I'm glad that you did get some sight-seeing in. There are some awesome places there! Was that your first time back there? I loved it too!

Sorry about being stuck in the airport so long. That stinks!

Have a great weekend! Loves
