No More NFJ

Okay, Jess this is for you!!! Thanks for calling and getting after me to update my blog. I really have been meaning to get to it. Don’t delete my link just yet…. So life is a funny thing. There is all this talk about having a “balanced” life between work and play. Well, for so long my life has been mostly work and occasionally some play. For about the past two months now, my life has seemed to be mostly all play. So, does that mean my life has finally “balanced” out? No more NFJ (No Fun Julie)! Tonight I went golfing and had dinner with a couple of friends, since tomorrow Cassaundra moves back to Utah. She told me that when she had just moved here, someone pointed me out to her and said, “That is Julie. She is really cool, but you won’t see her much because she is super busy and works a lot.” Huh, that is how I am known around here? Yikes! Well, I know one thing is for sure and that is I have not worked as much as I typically do at this time of year! Last year during July, August, and September I was working crazy hours. I got used to working from 6am-10pm and spending many a Saturday at work. This year is very different… I am working a special project at work right now and have been completely removed from Contracting and have not been impacted by the end of year rush. I must say it is a little weird and I kinda miss it, but I also really like this new thing I’ve discovered called enjoying the summer! Now, don’t think I have not been putting in a lot of hours still, but even a ten-hour day allows me the opportunity to play nine holes of golf, go out for dinner, go visiting teaching, and update my blog all in one day! On Saturday, August 16th, I hosted a b-day party for my friends Lisa and Katie. It was a fun night in which yummy cake and pie was enjoyed, cards were played, and cheering erupted for Phelps as he won his eighth gold medal at the Olympics. Good times were had by all! Well, that evening the lock on my door was acting up, as it had done a few times before, and it wouldn’t let me unlock it… yes, I was locked in! With patience it eventually works and I can go about my life as usual. Well, on Sunday as I got home from church, key in hand, and looking forward to being home for at least an hour and half before heading back to the church for a baptism… my lock would not open. So, I thought to myself I will just have to try harder. So, I put the key in and turned as hard as I could, and…. SNAP! Yep, the key completely broke off in the lock. Great, now I’m locked out! It is 5pm on a Sunday… the office closes at 5pm. So, I ran to the office hoping to catch someone and luckily I did. Maintenance was on their way. After 40 minutes of waiting for maintenance to show up and another 30 minutes of them attempting to remove the key, break into my sliding door, and eventually just drilling the lock, I finally got into my apartment! Happy day, I had 20 minutes to eat and head out the door again. I kept the key stub as a memento! Okay, so I think I have worn a swimsuit more in the past month and a half then I have the past 10 years! I went wakeboarding again on 9 August (I even tried kneeboarding this time, too!) It was way fun. Then on the 16th Lisa, David, and Katie joined me at my apartment to enjoy the hot tub and pool before the party that evening. Seriously, what’s gotten into me? Monday, 18 August, was my day off, so I spent the morning being productive and then I went golfing with Cat and David. We played 9 holes at one golf course, met up with Lisa downtown to do lunch, and then came back and golfed another 9 holes at a different golf course. I pared the final hole we played that day… it made me happy! After supporting FHE I went running (which felt so good), and then played some volleyball until about 10pm. It was such a fun day!
I get to babysit this cute little guy on Friday! Yeah!

Saturday, 23 August, I worked in the temple that day and then I met up with some friends to go to the Rockies Game. I enjoy Rockies games just because of the people I am with. I get bored with the game itself after about 3 innings. It was a lot of fun. After the game we went bowling. I didn’t get home until 2am… CRAZY! Good thing church doesn’t start until 1pm and I got to sleep in clear til 8:30am! Okay, I had to get up because I was hosting dinner groups at my place that night and I had a lot I needed to get ready for that. Dinner groups turned out well though. There were about 12 of us and we had plenty of food! We had Hawaiian haystacks and did s’mores and cookies for dessert.

So, pretty much there is something going on every single night… whether it is Visiting Teaching Stuff, birthdays, dinners, soccer games, parties, bridal showers, running, or meeting up with a friend I always have something going on. I love my crazy life… which is probably a good thing since I seem to be a magnet for being busy. I am trying to enjoy all the fun times possible before heading out to the desert in a few months where I really will not have much of a social life. I will be back to the very unbalanced life consisting almost entirely of work… and now I have come full circle. I think that means I get to go to bed now! :^) Love you all!

So Julie when do you have time to do all your ab workouts? If you tell you do them in your sleep I'm going to hurt you!!!
You crazy busy girl...what are you going to do in the desert? You're going to be bored!!!

It's about freakin' time! :) Just kidding. Thanks for the update. You are a bit of a crazy child, but that's what makes life so much fun. I remember you at this time last year and you were eating, sleeping and drinking work. I'm glad that you aren't doing that again.

I'll miss you when you go to the desert! Glad your parties went well. With all your party planning experience just think of how much easier your calling will be when you are called to be the Activities director. Oh, it's so fun!
