One Day Reprieve

Happy New Year everyone! For those of you confused as to why I say this, well, let’s just say this time of year is significant because of what I do. August and September is a busy time for me and I can breathe a sigh of relief when September ends! Today is my one day reprieve after working 13 straight days; I was excited to have a day off. It has been a fabulous day not just because I got to sleep in, but because I was able to enjoy General Conference. I am so grateful for technology which allows me to watch conference half way around the world. It has been wonderful so far and I look forward to the rest of conference next week (since that is the next opportunity I will have a sufficient amount of time to watch).
I thought the moon was so pretty that morning, so I took a picture!
So, the other day, October 2nd to be exact, I had to wear my sunglasses on the way home. Now, I realize this is a seemingly insignificant event to most people, but to me it was exciting. If I had to wear my sunglasses that means it was actually light when I went home, which means I left work before 5:00pm! It’s been probably 2 or more months since I’ve done that- it’s the small things you know! I know it seems all the stories I have are while I am on the road, this is probably because when I’m not on the road I’m either home (and nothing exciting occurs there), or I am at work (and who wants to hear about that?), so the only stories I feel are somewhat entertaining happen while on the road. So, here are a few stories for you: Surprisingly enough there are still people out and about so early in the morning when I’m heading to work. One morning, as I was passing a shopping area parking lot, I saw a truck that instead of reversing and going out of the parking lot like normal, decided he was impatient and just pulled forward and went over the curb and right onto the street- it’s easier I guess! Another morning as I was heading to work traffic came to a complete standstill. After a few minutes I realized why. There was a truck carrying an oversized box that took up the entire side of the street! This truck was crossing from one side of the freeway to the other, so they had a crane out there to move the cement barriers from the center in order to allow it to pass through. It was quite the operation! After a short 7-10 minute wait we were all on our way again, but while I was waiting I snapped a couple pictures.
The other day I found myself right in the middle of a huge convoy! Seriously, it was my little car right in the middle of a lot of large trucks. I felt a little out of place- it was crazy! I did find that I liked it though, because the police had the freeway blocked off at the place we have to do a U-turn for easy passage– nice!
This is the greenery I get to see and where I was part of the convoy!
So, the other day I was heading home and I forgot to check to make sure the re-circulate the air button was on. Yep, I forgot and I’m telling you I paid for it. You see, this country just plain stinks! There are lots of yummy smells like oil, gas, and sewer!
This is the scaffolding they use here... is that safe?
Well, it is still over 100 degrees here, so yes, I am still having a hard time remembering that it is actually Fall. It will be so cold when I go home next month- bust out the hot chocolate and caramel apple cider for me! :^)
Enjoy the beautiful Fall weather and enjoy Conference everyone!
