GOT TO LOVE KIDS

Okay, what is new in my life you may ask? Well, let me tell you….. 3 & 4 year olds! I am the assistant coach for a 3 & 4-year old soccer team. They are soooo cute! It is a bit challenging to keep them focused on soccer, but with two of us coaching, it is easier. My co-worker is the Head Coach and I am just helping out. Tonight was our second practice and I love it, it is a lot of fun.

Okay, so the other thing that is new in my life is my title at work… I am still a Contract Specialist (that is my official title), but I am also now the SABER Team Lead! I work SABER right now with 4 other people and now I am the one in charge- scary huh? I am actually really scared, that is a lot of responsibility. I did not go seeking this position, so I appreciate the confidence my boss has in me. I really think it is a battlefield promotion more then anything, but I am still excited (and really scared) for the challenge!

Well, those are the two big things I have other then being on the Elements Committee which is a whole different story….. which will have to wait for another day.

Speaking of kids…. I love these pictures, and I love my nieces! I think each one shows their personalities so much! Anyway, enjoy! Love you all. Have an awesome day!

HAPPY PI DAY

Happy Pi day to everyone… hope you had pie in honor of March 13 or 3.14! Okay, I’m really not that big of a nerd. One of my roommates from college always reminds me of pi day because today is her birthday and she always has pie instead of cake!

Well, it has been awhile since I’ve written, but not a whole lot is going on. This past weekend was really cool because we had Elder Packer preside at our Stake Conference. It is always nice to be in the same room as a General Authority. Since Elder Packer was presiding he can pretty much do as he wants, so I found it interesting that there was no agenda, just whoever he called on next to come bear their testimony! It was a good meeting. It was also pretty cool to have my friend, John, who is not LDS, come to Stake Conference with me. He is moving to Utah within a week and it is good for him to get a little taste of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

Sunday evening I threw a party for one of my Visiting Teaching Districts and then opened it up for friends to come over. I baked cookies and also melted chocolate and had strawberries, pineapple, bananas, apples, marshmallows, and angle food cake to dip. It was good stuff! It was a fun party, especially since there was a pretty decent turn out.

Last night I went to Institute. This institute class is the first one in a really, really long time that I have actually enjoyed. I have been twice now and that is saying a lot since most of the time I go once and never again. We discuss talks from the past General Conference- who knew you could get so much meaning out of one talk?!!!

Well, other than that I have just been working a lot. There are a lot of little projects right now and all of them seem to be due at the same time! I’m not complaining, I like the overtime pay!

Well, I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful weather. It is exciting that it feels like Spring… I just hope it isn’t teasing us and a huge snow storm is around the corner.

Got to love random pictures… and these made me laugh!

IT’S OFFICIAL

So, I finally got my diploma this week. I was very excited, since now I feel like my degree is official- I have the piece of paper to prove it! I am going to walk in June and all of you are definitely invited if you would like to attend. Graduation will be held on Saturday, June 16th and will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Denver. Fun, fun!

I had a good weekend…. Friday night I went to a High School play, “Seussical the Musical” that two of Katie’s brothers were in. They did a good job. I enjoy the theater, so I’m glad I got a chance to go. Thanks for inviting me Katie!

Saturday was Stake Women’s Conference. We had Sister Okasaki (sorry, I don’t know how to spell her name) as our guest speaker. She always does a good job. After the meeting they served a light lunch - bagel sandwiches, chips, and a cookie. I’m just happy it wasn’t chicken salad sandwiches! After mingling for a bit I changed my clothes and helped clean the building. Next weekend is our Stake Conference which Elder Packer will be attending. Therefore, we did a very thorough cleaning….two hours later we were wrapping things up. That evening I just hung with friends and was entertained by Mystery Science Theater 3000 (or something like that)- pretty dumb movie, but it had its moments.

Sunday was busy as usual. I had a meeting at 11:30am, and then went straight to church. We got a new bishopric yesterday, so after the three hour block there was a nice meal prepared for our entire ward. It was a last hurray for our old bishopric and to welcome in the new bishopric. Then I went home for about an hour before heading out again to a CES fireside. After the fireside I mingled with friends for a bit before heading home. I got home around 9:30pm. After talking to Mom I finished the book, “Eldest” before turning in for the night.

Congrats on your new calling Mom, I know you will do great! Have a splendid week everyone!

HOME AGAIN, HOME AGAIN

Hello all! I just got back from Los Angeles today – I’m not sure if L.A. was any warmer then Denver or not. We went to a couple of beaches and it was quite cold! As you can see from the pictures it was really windy, but you'll just have to believe me that it was cold. It was absolutely beautiful overlooking the ocean with the sunset- love that scene. My pictures do not do it justice, but at least you get the idea.

One of the guys from Buckley that was there used to live in LA and he had a rental car. So, on Wednesday evening we got a tour of LA. We went to Venice Beach, Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. We just got to see all of these areas, we didn’t actually get out of the car and explore. We also spent about 1-1/2 hours on the freeway and only needed to go about 20 miles! Got to love California! Anyway, the below picture of Tommy’s Hamburger Place is the original one and the guy taking us on this tour used to work there. Fun, fun!

It was a good trip, I’m glad it was only a four day TDY. It is nice to go TDY, but there is just something nice about coming home, too. :^)

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Hi all. So, I really dislike this day that should appropriately be named “Single Awareness Day.” One of these years I would love to actually have a Valentine so I can stop hating this holiday! Okay, I’m done venting now.

So, this week I have been TDY (but locally). I have had the opportunity to spend the week at DCMA (Defense Contract Management Agency) and job shadow them to see how things are handled on the systems level (opposed to base level, which is what I do). It has been interesting. It has been a stress free week aside from the drive. It should take me 40 mins to get there, but because of the snow it took me 1 hour and 20 mins this morning – CRAZY! Overall though, I’m glad I have had this opportunity since I have learned a lot!

I joined an indoor soccer team again. We had a game last night- yeah, I am soooo out of shape! It is so frustrating when I feel like I am going to die after playing for only 2 mins! It was fun to play again, and I am now motivated to get my butt to the gym!

Other than that life is pretty uneventful. Hope you are all having a fabulous day and a fabulous week.

Just because it is such a better holiday……
