I Love My Life

June has gone by sooo fast!!! Perhaps because it has been jam packed with so many good things.  Here is a recap of my past couple weeks:

Friday, June 1st Played Sand v-ball at Jared’s and then played tennis with a friend until 10:30pm.  Family, V-ball, and tennis all in one night- love it!

Saturday, June 2nd – Went running, ran errands, went with Jared and Jake to the People’s Fair and Sidewalk Chart Art Festival, then went with friends to the dinner theater in Boulder to see Cinderella. I was literally busy from 8am until 10:30pm.  Today had all the elements that make it a fabulous day… sleep (I think I got like 7 hours which is sleeping in), exercise, quality time with family, service (I promised I would help a friend out by providing some things for the Stake Activity she had a part in), enjoying some Denver and Boulder culture (that chalk art was amazing and then it got to see a juggler perform a street show in Boulder which was pretty fun in addition to going to the theater which I love), and spending quality time with friends.  I absolutely love days like that!

This is RMCAD's so I had to get a picture!

Sunday, June 3rd – enjoyed a pretty relaxing Sunday evening, but staying busy catching up on e-mails, messages, my calling responsibilities, etc.

Monday, June 4th – Went straight from work to pick a friend up from the airport, played basketball, then I got to spend the evening with Jared.  I finally got to see some of his animation projects- we had some good laughs at the chat clip! I love spending time with my twin brother!

Tuesday, June 5th – reviewed a resume for a friend, went running, played v-ball, then finished providing my feedback on the resume to my friend.  I think I finally got to bed around Midnight.

Wednesday, June 6th – Left my house at 7:12am for work.  Went straight from there to work in the temple.  Went straight from the temple to play b-ball.  Walked in my door at exactly 11pm.  It was an awesome day… too bad the lightning, thunder, hail, and loud wind didn’t allow me end the fun day until around 1:30am!

Thursday, June 7th – went for a run, played catch for a few minutes, enjoyed a more relaxing and quiet evening than normal.  These are the times I finally get some bills paid, laundry done, dishes done, e-mail done, do some things for my calling, etc, etc, etc.  I have to use that the little time I have at home and be productive! Who has time to watch tv?

Friday, June 8th – Did some calling responsibilities prior to meeting up with friends at the Olive Garden.  We had a nice dinner and then we headed over to the temple for the Young Single Adult chapel meeting at 7:30pm followed by a session at 7:50pm.   I got home around 9:45 and was pretty good about getting to bed so I could be rested for the craziness the next day… I think I got just over 6 hours of sleep.

Saturday, June 9th- Up at 5am so I could drive the hour and a half to Frisco to run the 10K race.  Why do I pay money and get up early to go run you ask? Well, I had two goals for this race - 1.  To run one mile under 6 minutes, and 2. Finish the 6.2 miles in under 50 minutes.  I failed at both goals.  I went by myself and think that kind of deflated my sails before the race even started.  Although there was plenty of energy from the other runners, I realized that I feed off the energy of those I know more and since I didn’t know anyone it was kind of a let down.  Well, I can’t be too hard on myself since I didn’t put forth the necessary effort to succeed at my goals.  I want the results without having to do the work- I wish it would work like that!  Since I only go running once, maybe twice, a week I think I need to increase my training plan if I am to achieve my goals.  Anyway, I chickened out and didn’t even attempt the sub-six minute mile.  I wasn’t feeling it.  Then, according to my watch, I crossed the finish line in 50 minutes and 16 seconds! I missed my goal by 17 seconds! I was pretty disappointed about that, but I was excited that I placed 5th out of 90 females in my age group! I don’t think I’ve ever placed in the top 10 before, so that is awesome!

This is the 3rd year in a row I have run down that mountain!

I went straight from the race to a ward BBQ and kickball activity which was combined with another singles ward.  It was a hot day, so the water kickball (tarps were wet so you could slide into the bases) was a hit! I left a little early from that activity and had enough time to pull on some shorts and grab my clubs and meet up with Deanna to go golfing.

This was the first golf outing of the summer.  I did horrible! I don’t golf because I am super good.  I golf because it is something fun which allows me to be doing something outside while visiting with great company! Good times!

Deanna broke the head right off the driver... oops!

I then had a couple hours to be at home and shower before my next adventure of the day.  I met up with the  girls I visit teach and we enjoyed some frozen yogurt and visited for about 1-1/2 hours.  I forgot to get a picture of this event… sad!

I was supposed to play tennis that evening, but my friend had to cancel on me.  So, again I had a little time at home before finishing the day by soaking my soar muscles (I haven’t run 6.2 miles since October 29th when I ran the Halloween Half, so yes it is sad, but I was soar!) in the hot tub and visiting with friends.  It truly was a wonderful day, even if didn’t make my goals!

I was going for the icy hot... pool first, then hot tub!

Sunday, June 10th – Went to ward council, it was ward conference that day, then went to a ward social that evening.  A quote was shared in Ward Conference that I may have to adopt as my life philosophy…”Success is going from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.” – Abraham Lincoln  I thought that was pretty fitting in light of the events the day before!

Monday, June 11th Played basketball, attended FHE, and then studied the FAR in preparation for the next day since I was meeting up with a friend.

Tuesday, June 12th Met up with a previous co-worker for dinner and to have a little study session of the FAR.  Yes we are nerds! I rather enjoy our get togethers to catch up on life and to also help each other out with a better understanding of the FAR.  I went straight from dinner to play some volleyball, so I finally made it home around 11:30pm.

Wednesday, June 13th worked in the temple and got home around 10pm.  Just in time to grab something to eat and get ready for bed!

Thursday, June 14th- Took my car in for repair (since I got rear-ended about a month ago and there was about $1,000 worth of damage that needed to be fixed) and picked up a rental car.  I worked later that day to make up for the long lunch to take care of my car.  I then met up with a friend for dinner at a really good pizza place.  After that I headed to the park to meet up with friends for some tennis and then we enjoyed a light jog around the park at 11:00pm.  It was a beautiful evening- I love summertime!

Friday, June 15th – I subbed at the temple and actually got home around 8:45pm which was earlier than expected.  So, I treated myself to actually sitting down and watching some of the French Open men’s final that I recorded.

Saturday, June 16th – I cleared my schedule and spent all day (well, up to about 6pm anyway which is a long time for me) cleaning, unpacking, and doing a lot of laundry.  I’ve been in my house for 6 months now, so it was about time I got the room with all the boxes piled high taken care of.  A friend came over and we even got some pictures hung! It was hard, but I said no to soccer that morning, tubing down the river that afternoon, and going to Glenwood Springs that weekend so I could finally get my house under control! I wasn’t completely anti-social that day… I was supposed to play tennis, but again the gal had to cancel on me due to work, but I did go to a party that evening.  It was a party for singles 25-35 and there were a lot of people there! It was fun to visit with friends I don’t often see and to meet a few new people.  We got back to my house around 10:45pm and Heather, my friend who went with me, helped me put together a computer desk.  I finally made it to bed around 1:40am.

So, that brings me to today, Fathers’ Day.  I love Father’s Day and the time I have to reflect on the great father I have.  I am truly blessed to know I have a Father who loves me and who, I’ve no doubt, continues to bless my life even though I can’t see him.  I love you Dad!

So, yes, my life is busy, but I love it! I love every chance I get to spend time with family and enjoy their company.  I love the quality time I get to spend with friends doing things I enjoy.  I love feeling useful and staying busy through service in the temple, my calling, providing rides to the airport, reviewing resumes, feeding the missionaries and inviting an investigator over, etc.  I love that I am healthy and can exercise and play sports.  I love all the texts, FB messages, e-mails and phone calls that say, “Good luck”, “How did your race go?”, “We’re playing bball Wednesday night, interested?”, “Want to go on a bike ride?”, “What are you doing tonight? Just want to catch up with you.”, “Want to come sit in the hot tub tonight?”, “When are we going to get together?”, “When do I get to play tennis with you?”, “Come camping next Friday”, “BBQ at 6pm”, “Want to come over for dinner?” etc, etc, etc.  My life is never dull because there are way too many awesome people who (for reasons I haven’t figured out yet) invite me to things, and how can I possibly say no to spending time with people I love? So, I don’t say no and instead I get very little sleep and don’t often have time to blog or go grocery shopping, but I am happy and I have a lot of awesome memories which are priceless!
