Traveling is fun, but it is also way fun when people travel here to visit! Mom spent a few days (June 18-23) in Denver a couple weeks ago. It was great fun! I love when people come to visit since I cancel all other social events and get to relax and spend time with family.
Mom drove over with Vicki, a friend from her ward, who came to tend her grand kids while her son worked and her daughter-in-law went to girls camp.
Mom came to keep Vicki company on the long drive over which worked out perfect
for me since that meant I got to spend time hanging with my Momisita!
They arrived at 3:30pm Monday afternoon.
Since there was plenty of space in the car, I was the lucky recipient of
3 boxes worth of memorabilia from elementary school through college. Treasures I tell you! It was pretty fun going
through the boxes and taking a walk down memory lane. That is how we spent Monday evening before
Jared, Katie, and the kids came over to visit.
Tuesday, I rode my bike to work and left Mom the car so she could get to her
massage. Such a great vacation activity!
That evening we went over to Jared and Katie’s and played a little croquet. I claimed the title, snatched it from Jared
who was probably the rightful heir! We spent the rest of the time chatting well
into the evening.
Wednesday was a pretty normal Wednesday for me. I worked a normal day and then headed
straight from work to the temple. It was
neat to meet up with Annie and Mom at the temple and do a sealing session with
them before participating in my normal evening assignment. It is nice that Annie lives close by so Mom got to spend a lot of time with her sister.
Mom spent the night with Annie so they didn’t have to wait for me to
finish up at the temple.
I took half a day off on Thursday and all of Friday off so we could
play. Thursday afternoon we went
mini-golfing with Katie and the boys. I
really stink at mini-golf. I am happy to
say that I beat Cayden (who is 4) by one stroke! Congrats Mom for being the victor on the golf game! I redeemed myself that evening when Mom and I played our
traditional scrabble game and I came out ahead by a mere two points!!
Mom is a big baseball fan, but we were unable to go to a game since the
Rockies were out of town. So, we went to
a tour of Coors field instead! It was kind of cool to learn that you have to
hit the ball farther here in order to get a home run (since we are at such a
high altitude the balls tend to travel further, so they pushed the fence back a few yards), and to learn that the purple
stripe of chairs in the stadium is the mile high marker, and that the fun
waterfall in the outfield is called the “batter’s eye” so the players can
actually see the ball! It was fun to see the suites, the visitor's
clubhouse, the dugout, etc. It was a
little boring for the kids, but I rather enjoyed it!
Funny how Mom comes to Colorado to get a picture with a Phillies jersey!
Jared works close to the stadium, so we wondered down to see the projects he
is working on. Pretty fun!
After lunch
Mom and I went to the 16th street mall and did a little shopping
before jumping on the light rail and heading home. Jared, Katie and the boys joined up with us
that evening for dinner and a little swimming.
We finished off the evening with some ice-cream treats and then said
goodnight.
It was sad that Saturday morning had to come around so quickly. As one last hurray we did breakfast Saturday
morning with Jared, Katie, and the boys.
Jared has mad skills when it comes to making smoothies, so smoothies and
cinnamon rolls made a pretty fabulous breakfast! 9am came and Jared had to go
to work and I had to take Mom to meet up with Vicki. It really was a great week and so nice to
hang with family! I hope you enjoyed your stay in Denver Momisita, I sure miss
having you around since it is rather lonely around here without you!
I love the 4th of July. I
love the country that we live in and feel so blessed to be an American with all
the freedoms, privileges, and comforts of life which we enjoy here. God Bless the USA! Happy Independence Day
everyone!
